The Graduate School of Agriculture has been implementing the “International Agriculture Program” since 2011 with the aim of establishing a 21st Century education and research consortium with the countries in Asia and Pacific. The mid-term goal is to achieve “cultivating global human resources who are capable of creating a prosperous society by constructing a mechanism for the students to enhance the international exchanges and visit the various regions in the world.”This program is a partnership agreement with Bogor Agricultural University (IPB University) in Indonesia, Khon Kaen University, Thailand, and Ruhuna University, Sri Lanka, and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh. And, University of Veterinary Science, Yezin (UVS) in Myanmar recently signed the partnership agreement in the winter of 2019. The program consists of a summer course (dispatch of our students and faculty members) and a winter course (inviting the faculty members and students from the partner university). In addition, an international workshop program has been conducted since 2015 to enhance the research collaboration among the partner universities.

In August and September, 2019, a total number of 12 graduate students were dispatched to the two partnership universities of Bogor Agricultural University and Khon Kaen University for approximately 20 days. The students participated the International Summer Course held by the partner university, and conducted field surveys and short-term research projects under the guidance of the professors at the partner universities. The students also participated in the exchanges with the local students and learned a lot through the coordination of faculty members in the partner universities.
Winter course of International Agricultural Program took place in Okinawa from January 24 to 27, 2020. Seven professors and 4 students from five partner universities participated in this event. We invited professors, university staff, and students from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB University) (Indonesia), Khon Kaen University (Thailand), Ruhuna University (Sri Lanka), Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (Bangladesh), and University of Veterinary Science, Yezin (UVS)(Myanmar).
